Video Title: BMW MINI N47 Diesel – Camchain, Guides & Tensioner Replacement (Part 4 of 4 – Refitting the Engine)

The Final Phase – Rebuilding the N47 Engine Bay

In the final part of our 4-part N47 cam chain guide, we refit the engine and all associated components. This process is just as important as the chain job itself — it ensures the engine runs smoothly, with no leaks, rattles or warning lights.

What This Video Covers

  • Refitting engine mounts and subframe components
  • Reconnecting all sensors, fuel lines and boost pipes
  • Cooling system reassembly
  • Initial oil fill and system bleed
  • Startup checks, idle behaviour and fault code clearance

Fluids and Final Checks

We use fresh BMW-approved oil and coolant, then carry out a full system bleed using a vacuum bleeder. After first startup, we inspect for leaks, clear any DTCs, and road test to confirm the engine is operating correctly.

Included in Every N47 Timing Service:

  • Timing kit, guides, seals, and new bolts
  • Engine oil, oil filter, and coolant refill
  • Labour and digital service history update (where applicable)
  • Initial diagnostic report and final system health check

FAQs

Is the coolant replaced during this process?

Yes — we fully drain the system and refill with OE-spec BMW coolant after refitting the engine components.

How do you ensure the engine is leak-free?

We pressurise the coolant system, check all oil lines and seals, and road test the vehicle under load. Final inspections are done hot and cold.

Do you update the digital service history?

Yes — where supported, we update the onboard iDrive service history and reset the service interval data.

How soon can I drive after the work?

The car is ready to collect same day in most cases. We recommend gentle driving for the first 100 miles and a recheck if anything feels off.
